First piece in my Motherhood abstract series.
Early pregnancy brought a flood of conflicting emotions—fear, guilt, joy and a whole lot of nausea. I even jokingly nicknamed the baby “Paris” (short for parasite). My mental state began to shift as time passed, and the first time I felt the baby move made my tiny peanut real. That moment gave me permission to feel excitement, even if I still wasn’t exactly “glowing.”
In this piece, chaotic linework and textured layers express the tangle of early maternal emotion. Vibrant yellows and reds represent bursts of joy, while deep blues quietly creep in, hinting at the sadness and uncertainty that lingered beneath the surface.
