Roller Derby & Design: A Short but Impactful Ride
In 2018, I discovered the adrenaline-filled world of Roller Derby and joined the Wheat City Roller Derby team, Scarlet Fever, playing from 2018 to 2019. I loved the sport—the energy, the community, the empowerment—but unfortunately, it didn’t love my body back. A torn ligament and a broken bone eventually sidelined me.
While skating, I also found ways to contribute beyond the track. I offered my design skills to the team, creating bold, dynamic posters to promote our home games.
Though my time as a player was cut short, I still hope to lace up my skates and get back on those eight wheels again someday.
